Hair Beauty

Level 1 is ideal if you're just starting out in hair and beauty and want an understanding of the industry - enough to succeed in a job in the area or to move on to further study.

You will study a variety of units relating to beauty therapy treatments and these may include:

  • An introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector;
  • Presenting a professional image in a salon;
  • Create an image using colour in the hair and beauty sector;
  • Skin care;
  • Hand care;
  • Basic Manicure treatment;
  • Basic Pedicure treatment;
  • Basic make-up application;
  • Themed face painting;
  • Basic Nail art application;
  • Following health and safety;
  • Salon reception duties;
  • Working with others in the hair and beauty sector.

You will be enrolled on a Study Programme which will include mandatory attendance on your vocational course and English and Maths if required following assessment, as well as engagement in work experience and enterprise activities throughout the duration of the course.

Level 2 will suit you if you are new to Beauty Therapy or have some knowledge and basic skills in the industry, probably from a role where you work under supervision. You want to increase your skills, maybe to start your first job in the area or take on more responsibility.

During this course you may study the following units:

  • Beauty Salon Reception;
  • Make-up;
  • Waxing Techniques;
  • Facial Treatments;
  • Lash and Brow;
  • Manicure;
  • Pedicure;
  • Health and Safety.

You will be enrolled on a Study Programme which will include mandatory attendance on your vocational course and English and Maths if required following assessment, as well as engagement in work experience and enterprise activities throughout the duration of the course.

Level 3 is ideal if you've worked in Beauty Therapy for some time or have completed a Level 2 qualification previously. Your work might involve supervising others or managing resources and you'll want to develop your skills further, perhaps to gain specialist skills or move into a management role.

Units you may complete include:

  • Body Massage;
  • Body Electrical Therapy;
  • Facial Electrical Therapy;
  • Micro Dermabrasion;
  • Stone Therapy;
  • Self-tanning.

You will be enrolled on a Study Programme which will include mandatory attendance on your vocational course and English and Maths if required following assessment, as well as engagement in work experience and enterprise activities throughout the duration of the course.
